- Technogeek falls in love with OS
X, Rob D Libbert, My First Mac. Linux power user discovers
OS X, falls in love with the interface.
- My ideal laptop, Adam
Robert Guha, Apple Archive. The TiBook is too wide, the iBook's
screen is too small, and my Lombard is too big and heavy.
- Dreams for Macworld
Expo, Dan Knight & Anne Onymus, RumorLog. Four ideas (not
rumors) we'd love to see Apple introduce at next week's Expo.

- System 7: Bigger, better, more
expandable, and a bit slower than System 6, Tyler Sable, Classic
Restorations. The early versions of System 7 provide broader
capability for modern tasks than System 6 while still being
practical for even the lowliest Macs.
- Dealing with resource forks and
.DS_Store files on non-Mac volumes, Leaman Crews, Plays Well
with Others. Macs readily connect to non-Mac servers, but OS X
tends to leave .DS_Store files and separate resource files behind.
Here's how to keep your Mac from cluttering up those servers.
- Evolution and Intelligent Design in
the classroom, Jeff Adkins, Mac Lab Report. Intelligent Design
is not science, but that doesn't mean it can't be discussed in
science class.
2007
2008
- Upgrading
a Power Mac G4 on the cheap, Mark Garbowski, My Turn. For under
$200, the author upgraded memory, dropped in a SuperDrive, added a
better video card, and moved up to USB 2.0.
- Think bull:
Why the shuttering of Think Secret is no big deal, Ed Eubanks Jr,
The Efficient Mac User. Apple and Ciarelli have reached a mutually
satisfactory agreement, and journalism is not at stake here.

- The Mac value equation
revisited, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The way Low End Mac has
traditionally calculated the Mac value equation is somewhat
simplistic.
- Opera 10.5 Preview
better and faster than ever, Charles W Moore, Miscellaneous
Ramblings. Opera 10.1 is already a wonderful browser, but version 10.5
for Mac (Intel only) is now written in Cocoa and the JavaScript engine
is the fastest yet.
2011
- Does 'bad grammar'
have anything to do with Apple's success?, Dan Knight, Mac Musings.
A couple pundits have recently called bad grammar a key to Apple's
success. The sad thing is, they're all wrong about the grammar.
- Competitors aim
to take a bite out of Apple, Alan Zisman, Zis Mac. Apple's success
has others working to take a piece of the tablet, MP3 player,
smartphone, and media markets, among others.
- I love Ubuntu 10.10 on
older Macs, Austin Leeds, Apple Everywhere, 01.03. For older,
slower G3 Macs, Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat has it all over Mac OS X
10.4.
