Highlights
1986
- Mac Plus introduced, the
first Mac with a double-sided floppy drive, a megabyte of memory, a
SCSI expansion bus, a numeric keypad on the keyboard, SIMMs, and
the ability to accept memory upgrades - all the way to
4 MB.
2001
2002
- PowerBook 100 series still
rocks, Heather Anne Hurd, My Turn. A decade after their
introduction, old PowerBooks are still great tools that put PDAs to
shame.
- That 80s Mac, Eric Schwarz, The
Power of Mac. A look back at the compact b&w Macs of the 1980s,
from the first Mac through the SE/30.
- Macs, myths, and conformity,
Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Apple debunks the myths,
but are those the real reason people choose Windows over Macs?
2003
- Deliver us from evil: Thoughts
on computer self defense, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. "Should you
have the right to take active steps to stop a computerized attack
on your computer system?"

images, cloning systems for the classroom, a low-cost education
Mac, and OS X Server, Jeff Adkins, Mac Lab Report. Follow
up on Apple education initiatives, working with CD-ROM disk images,
cloning Macs with FireWire Disk Mode, the need for a low-cost
education Mac, and issues with Mac OS X Server.

- iPods and Dells and the Apple
Store, oh my, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. Getting an iPod
working with a Windows machine isn't quite the plug-and-play Mac
users are used to.

earners, FlexUSB Cable, a networked USB server, and more,

burner, Road Warrior kit, two new 'Book cases, and bargain 'Books
from $239 to $2,499.

with Sherlock and Mozilla plugins, Nathan Thompson, Embracing
Obsolescence. WannaBe is a fairly basic text-only Web browser, but
plugins give it a lot of flexibility.

years, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The Mac Plus broke Apple's
original mold, offering expandable RAM, SCSI hard drive support,
double-sided floppies, and LocalTalk networking.
- The Mac Plus, my first Mac,
turns 20, Charles W Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Apple
introduced the first real workhorse Mac 20 years ago. The Plus had
SCSI connectivity, RAM expandability, double-sided floppies, and
supported networking.
- Yes, you can still be productive

Mac. It's easy to come by a used Mac Plus very cheaply,
and it can be a very nice writing tool - and even let you on the
Internet.

Plus, Joe Rivera, Mac Fallout Shelter. It was the first Mac the
author ever used, and he still uses on today as a Web server.

major highlight of the show was Apple CEO Steve Jobs' keynote
presentation, where he announced that history was going to be made.
Jobs performance was flawless."

iPhone is, Apple is telling 70% of wireless users that they can't
have one unless they switch to AT&T as their carrier.

- The MacBook
Air is nearly perfect, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The MacBook Air
isn't quite the perfect replacement for the 12" PowerBook G4, but it
comes mighty close.

Macs, developer Leopard ran on Yikes, Mac IIfx RAM heaven, and
