July 7 - July

2002
- Banned by Macworld, pro and
con, Jeff Adkins, Mac Lab Report. Is it really a bad thing if
Apple is taking notice of your website?
- Window XS and world
domination, Anne Onymus, Rumor Mill. How XS will help Microsoft
move from antitrust violations to complete world domination.
- OS X: More than just another
Unix variant, Zack Martin, My Turn. Working with desktop Linux
creates even more respect for what Apple has accomplished in Mac
OS X.
- Guesses for Macworld
Expo, Dan Knight and Anne Onymus, RumorLog. Our best guesses at
what Apple might introduce at the Expo.
- Blacklists, Quicklinks, and
site finances, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Thoughts on the Expo
blacklist, a new Mac headline news service, and Low End Mac
funding.
2003
- Hooked by the iBook, Jeff
Campbell, My First Mac. "The moment I saw the iBook I was hooked,
and by August I had one in my hands."
- Future Apple and IBM cooling
strategies, Jeff Adkins, The Lite Side, 07.08. "Okay, you've
been waiting in helpless anticipation for people to start
ridiculing the new G5's collection of fans - what are there, 20
fans or something inside the case?"
- Panther and the beige G3,
unreadable CD-Rs, free music, and more, Dan Knight, Low End Mac
Mailbag. Supporting older Macs not a win-win situation, mailbag
musings, OS X on a FireWire drive, building your own Mac clone, and
an iChat AV suggestion.

'Books from $230 to $2,299.

drives from Wiebetech.
2008
- Safari 3.1
Is the best browser for Macs and for Windows, Carl Nygren, Classic
Macs in the Intel Age. Apple's Safari browser is fast, lightweight, and
compatible with pretty much any website that doesn't require users to
run Windows and Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
- More air:
Expectations for future MacBook and MacBook Pro models, Dan Knight,
Mac Musings. Next generation 'Books are expected to include Intel's
next generation Montevino processor, but wireless power and wireless
USB could give Apple a leg up on the competition.
- Time Machine
can now backup to a shared hard drive, Alan Zisman, Zis Mac8.
Earlier versions of Leopard didn't seem to allow backup to a shared
drive on another Mac, but the 10.5.4 update allows it.

old friend rediscovered, Dan Knight, Low End Mac Reviews. I've used
Default Folder with the Classic Mac OS since 1992, but only tried the
OS X version recently.

really like this bag. It's a clever, sensibly practical, and amazingly
capacious designed, considering its light weight, svelte dimensions,
and clean styling."
- New browser for classic Mac OS,
Safari 4 and OS X 10.4.11, and more, Charles W Moore, Miscellaneous
Ramblings. Also Mac apps for searching Craigslist and less known
options for controlling iTunes and iPhoto behavior.
2010
- On the road with a
Pismo and an iPad, Austin Leeds, Apple Everywhere. How useful are a
Pismo PowerBook, Apple iPad, and Virgin Mobile MiFi on a family road
trip? Well, coverage is spotty.
2011
- Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode
disappoints, faster SSDs rumored for next MacBook Air, and more,
The 'Book Review. Also Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI cables being recalled,
one reason not to buy a MacBook Air, soldering SSDs to motherboard a
bad idea, and more.

Review. Also Blu-ray playback finally comes to Macs, Carbon Copy Cloner
