1995
- Windows 95 ships, the first version of Windows generally perceived as competing with the Macintosh OS.
1999
- The eOne, Dan Knight, The iMac Channel. It looks like an iMac, but the sealed case prevents many kinds of upgrades iMac owners take for granted.
2000
- Linux for PowerPC, Eric DeStefano, Mac Metamorphosis. Linux for PowerPC is fairly mature - and a good introduction to the Unix core of OS X.
- PlayStation in a Mac, Anne Onymus, Rumor Mill. Rumor is Sony has developed PlayStation2 on a PCI/AGP card, thrown in hardware DVD decoding, and then added totally outrageous 3D drivers using the Emotion Engine.
