Low End Mac Groups

As of Early 2025, Low End Mac is present in two online social media platforms, FaceBook and Bluesky. On FaceBook the main group has over 12,600 members, and we also have smaller groups for iOS/iPads/iPhones also. On Bluesky since the site is more like twitter, it’s more of a newsfeed to see the latest posts from LEM, as well as related posts shared by our Low End Mac editors.

Our Group Rules

  • 1: Please be kind and courteous.
    • We believe in the long term value of Apple hardware. You should be able to use your Apple gear as long as it helps you remain productive and meets your needs, upgrading only as necessary. We want to help maximize the life of your Apple gear. Please remain civil, and don’t discourage others.
      .
  • 2: No political commentary, please.
    • Discussions about political affiliation (including up to and beyond) elections in general, politics, geopolitics, campaigns, any elections of any kind, politically-adjacent anthropology/history, etc; are not allowed. While the meta-world at large is ultimately shaped by, and affected by politics.. please leave any and all such things outside of this group.
      .
  • 3: Self-promotion is okay, but not spam.
    • We are a loving and accepting community. People that post here are wanting to share stuff or explain stuff or help. If you have something you would like to share, you can share it. Our administrators and moderators are also content creators themselves – whether it’s in the group, on YouTube, on Low End Mac’s website, or all three. We post about our stuff all the time & so can you! So once again, please be kind & accepting and have fun!
      .
  • 4: Apple Silicon discussions are okay.
    • The ARM transition is not off topic. It impacts the future of Macs, as the platform prepares to move to its fourth hardware architecture. It will make Intel Macs low end sooner than you might like, but sooner or later the ARM Macs will be low end too. We didn’t ignore the Intel transition, and we will continue to support all Macs regardless of CPU.

  • 5: No scamming. Buy/sell/trades-ok. Post in LEM SWAP
    • We love seeing users of LEM and LEM-Swap trade, buy and sell. Overall, us admins/mods have nearly 0 complaints of scammers. When a scammer is identified & then proven to be one, they’re promptly removed from our group. We want users to trade/buy/sell with confidence, without the fear of craigslist-like behaviors and scams. If a purchase, sale or trade is made, both parties need to honor the deal. Failure in doing so will result in the prompt removal from our group to protect others.
      .
  • 6: Our meme policy
    • Unless it’s obviously related to our subject matter (older Macs, Apple Inc.), please don’t post them here. They are not generally helpful content, and helpful content is our primary goal. Clever counts for something, but let’s try to stay on target. If we don’t think it’s a good fit, we will give you a warning.
      .
  • 7: How to join our group
    • To join this group, you must answer at least one question in the sign-up process (it’s really easy). If you don’t answer at least one, we may take a quick look at your profile and interests, and we may add you – or not. We ask that list members not add others, since that makes it impossible for them to answer our questions.
      .
  • 8: When asking questions for help
    • When asking for help, please include as much information as possible: Which specific model are you using, macOS version etc; Giving us this information up front will make it much easier for us to go in the right direction in helping you figure things out. Thank you!
