- The iMac: Truly
revolutionary, Dan Knight, The iMac Channel. "The iMac looks to
the future, not just the past and present."
- Congratulations
Gateway, HP, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. "According to the latest
customer loyalty study, both Gateway and Hewlett Packard surpassed
Apple in customer loyalty in 1987."

- Thinking through
the iPhone: This could work, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. It
doesn't make sense to just add MP3 capabilities to a cell phone,
but here's one way graft the iPod design onto a cell phone.
- Is Apple's product line too
simple or too complex?, Adam Robert Guha, Apple Archive. With
so many different models sharing the iMac, iBook, and PowerBook
name, Apple's model naming scheme seems to create as much confusion
as clarity.
- Widescreen iBook rumors gain
weight, 12" iBook G4 reviewed, ultralight laptops, rugged laptops,
and more, The 'Book Review. From Mac Plus to 17"
PowerBook, Asustek snatches iBook contract, and more.
- Last single CPU Power Mac
discontinued, LCD monitor sales continue rise, new RAID enclosures,
and more, Mac News Review. Power Mac G5/1.8 GHz
phased out, new RAID enclosures from Sonnet and OWC, and two
Serial-ATA host adapters.
2008
- Run Linux on my
Mac? No thanks, Tamara Keel, Digital Fossils0. Macs have a zen-like
synergy of hardware, software, and operating system. Why would anyone
want to give that up?
- Win the
depreciation game by buying on the low end, Charles W Moore, 'Book
Value. The worst depreciation afflicts high-end models. By buying a
less powerful version, choosing certified refurbished, or picking up a
used computer, you'll come out ahead.
- PowerPC's last chance:
The Mac's history with the G5 CPU, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. The
introduction of the G5 Power Mac in June 2003 promised a bright 3 GHz
future, and failure to achieve that paved the way to today's Intel
Macs.
- The PowerBook G5: Long
rumored, never produced, Charles W Moore, 'Book Value. Five years ago
Apple introduced the G5 Power Mac, but the new CPU never made it to the
PowerBook. Apple called it 'the mother of all thermal challenges'.
- PowerPC support in Snow Leopard,
Linux growing more user friendly, old Macs never die, and more, Dan
Knight, Low End Mac Mailbag. Also Migration Assistant failure, Toast
6.1 improves burn speed for a Blue and White G3, and working with a
G4-upgraded Power Mac 7200.

- MacBook Air Apple's top 'Book,
new Sandy Bridge CPUs destined for next MacBook Air, and more, The
'Book Review. Also reviews of 11" MacBook Air and Thunderbolt MacBook
Pros, Crucial M4 SSD firmware update, Kensington wireless mobile
trackball, and more.
- OS X 10.6.8 update, the Lion
upgrade, Macs gain in enterprise, Firefox 5, and more, Mac News
Review. Also iMac 'a serious consumer beast', TenFourFox brings Firefox
5 features to PowerPC Macs, two wireless Flying KeyMouse controllers,
and more.
- OWC Mercury
Extreme Pro SSD Legacy Edition tested in Blue & White Power Mac
G3, Dan Knight, Mac Daniel. The Blue & White G3 has a slow
ATA/33 data bus. Will OWC's Legacy SSD outperform a fast hard drive
with that bottleneck?
