2008
- Bringing a 233 MHz iMac into the Mac OS X age, Carl Nygren, Classic Macs in the Intel Age. Upgraded with 128 MB additional RAM and a larger hard drive, the iMacs was ready for Mac OS X 10.2 'Jaguar' - and runs it very nicely.
- Apple is 'enterprise ready', whatever that means, Frank Fox, Stop the Noiz. The term 'enterprise' can mean anything from a one-person business using a computer to a multinational conglomerate.
- Hooked on Macs, new and old, Simon Royal, My First Mac. Starting with an old Quadra in 2000, Royal left behind Windows and began acquiring his own stable of Macs.
- You have to be able to see the screen: Buying prescription specs online, Charles Moore, 'Book Value. Computing can be a challenge if you're far- or nearsighted, and you can save a bundle by ordering your eyeglasses online.
2009
- XMenu: One of my favourite things for OS X, Alan Zisman, Zis Mac. "The first thing I add to my Macs is XMenu from DEVONtechnologies." Best of all, it's free.
- New 'Books have better displays, digital vs. analog audio I/O, Craigslist restrictions, and more, Charles Moore, Miscellaneous Ramblings. Also three browsers - Opera, Stainless, and Cruz - compared, and installing Mac OS X from DVD on a Mac that can't mount DVDs.
2011
- Four weeks an iPhone user, Dan Knight, Mac Musings. Although iOS is OS X under the hood, the iPhone experience is very different from using a Mac.
- OWC's Legacy SSD tested in Mystic Power Mac G4, Dan Knight, Mac Daniel. G4 Power Macs don't have built-in SATA support, and most SSDs are SATA devices. OWC's legacy SSDs work on the older Mac's IDE bus.
- Using Quicken for Mac? Read this before you upgrade to Lion, Alan Zisman, Zis Mac. You can convert your files to work with Quicken Express, but the conversion has to be done before you install Lion.
